A new outlook
For a few years now, the Blue-Blog has lumbered around cyberspace doing nothing in particular very well, but all that is about to change.Super-seeded as the opinion outlet for NSNO by the site's own article forming software, the Blue-Blog has lay dormant and unloved - until now!
With the summer coming soon, and silly season joining it, we have decided that the Blue Blog will take the role of summarising the various transfer rumours and activity each day.
Every day, in the evening most likely, the site will discuss the various players that will no doubt be linked to the Blues, both from "reputable" sources (or tabloids, as they are called) and from random forum links found across cyber space.
This will start as soon as we are linked to more than just Steve Sidwell....

New attitude is key this summer
In my opinion this summer’s transfer dealings will say a lot about Everton’s ambitions. If we fail to sign players of real quality, this would show lack of ambition from the club as a whole, writes The Sandman.Of course, it would not necessarily be the fault of David Moyes if we fail to add this extra flair and skill – it could just as easily be Bill Kenwright and the board failing to provide the funds necessary. However, it is imperative that whomever or whatever it is preventing the club from making forward moves in the transfer market is replaced. I very much doubt it would be down to Moyes – it would be far more likely the fault of Kenwright for failing to provide Moyes with the required war chest.
In the past, Everton’s policy has been fairly simple – look for bargains from lower divisions (which we have found – see Lescott, Jagielka, Cahill) and buy industrious, hardworking - but not massively talented players (see Carsley, Neville, Johnson) - and this policy has worked. Indeed, it has got us amazing results considering our net spend. However, to progress into the Champions League places we need to add that extra bit of genuine quality to our ranks – hard work and a ‘never say die’ attitude will only get you so far on their own.
Also, it is time we made a statement to the rest of Europe and the Premier League by winning the race for someone of real quality – someone like David Bentley or Kim Kallstrom. To an extent this happened last summer with the signing of Yakubu and our first purchase of over £10 million. However, he was not attracting the interest of the ‘top 4’ and was regarded as lazy by many – signing someone like Bentley, who has the attention of the top 4, would really make a statement of intent.
Of course we do need other options as back up if we release Carsley at the end of the season, so spending a small amount on squad players may be necessary. But it is vital that these players are not the sole focus of our transfer activity. I’m certain Moyes will dig up another little gem like Mikel Arteta or Steven Pienaar from abroad for a low price, but in my opinion the statement being made with a signing is almost as important as the actual signing. We need to spend big on someone proven to show the rest of Europe that we are able and willing to compete for the big names.
As I have already stated, in my opinion this is one of the most important summers for a long time for Everton – we either prove that we have the ambition and the funds to move forward by signing someone like Bentley, Kallstrom or Arshavin, or we prove we don’t, and buy players like Stephen Hunt and Kevin Nolan.

In our new Kirkby homes
Below is a song created by a Liverpool fan regarding our proposed move to Kirkby, and whilst I'm not suggesting that Everton fans wouldn't ridicule those loveable reds if they were to move to a retail park in a small town, this is probably beyond most Evertonians.
